Memorial Garden

Thank you for considering the First UU Memorial Garden as the final resting place for yourself or a family member.
Knowing that a final resting place of beauty and peace is available for members
and their families is a comfort to many of us.

A decade ago, leaders of our congregation recognized the need for members and their families to have a final resting place on our church grounds. We understand that our building is the spiritual home of our congregation. First UU Church has been blessed with three-plus acres on a hillside in White Township, Pennsylvania, in a lovely setting. Knowing that a final resting place of beauty and peace is available for members and their families is a comfort to many of us.

In spring 2009, a space was designated just outside our sanctuary, and members participated in an official installation of the First UU Memorial Garden. The cremated ashes of church members (and their spouses and children, including step-children) may be buried in our Memorial Garden. Plots are 2ft x 2ft x 2ft. No markers are allowed at specific sites, but names and dates are etched into our large Memorial Stone. The planting of a tree, bush, or flowers in memory of a loved one is permitted, in consultation with our Grounds Coordinator.
