First UU Church Children and Adults participate in the Annual Crop Walk
The Religious Education (RE) Director at the First Unitarian Universalist Church (First UU), Penny Vick, along with the parents of the children involved in RE walked as a group in last week’s annual CROP Walk on Sunday, October 18. The event began and ended on the lawn between Graystone and Calvary Presbyterian churches. The CROP Hunger Walk gave the children an opportunity to participate by their action in the on-going First UU Social Justice Program’s fight against hunger in Indiana County. CROP Hunger Walks are community-wide events sponsored by Church World Service and organized by religious groups, businesses, schools and others to raise funds to end hunger in the U.S. and around the world. The children are hoping to end hunger one step at a time. The children and First UU members collected $334.68 for this important issue which can physically hurt individuals of all ages, races, and nationalities.
