ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL JUSTICE WEDNESDAY NIGHT MOVIE
April 10, 7:30 p.m. in the church sanctuary. “The Economics of Happiness” explores the global economy and the focus on growth and increased production at the expense of the well-being of individuals and the environment. Featuring international voices, especially from women, the film examines how buying local food and goods contributes to a healthy local environment and economy. All are welcome. Admittance is a suggested $5 donation and will benefit The Indiana County Center for Community Growth. The Center is a new progressive organization in Indiana focused on a sustainable economy and social justice projects. The Center believes that the objective of establishing a sustainable economy is relevant to the Indiana community.

May 8, 7:30 p.m. in the church sanctuary. “Triple Divide” documents the 18-month investigation by the Ohio newspaper the Public Herald into the environmental and health impacts of shale oil and gas fracturing at the headwaters of the triple continental divide of north central Pennsylvania. The investigation exposes a multitude of recurring problems, from illness, to the fragmentation of forests, to the danger of contamination to rivers and watersheds in the entire northern Appalachia region.
